With this historic vote, we join our adjunct colleagues in securing a stronger faculty voice at Lesley – one that will no doubt secure a brighter future for our university.
The journey here has no doubt been a learning experience. Many of us have been introduced to colleagues who were previously unfamiliar. We’ve discussed the many positive aspects of our jobs as educators and studied what we feel needs to be improved upon. Now that we have formed our union, the time has come to look forward to the positive changes this will bring to core faculty and our students.
We are the Union – that is, all of us striving together. So, as we move forward, we want to include as many voices as possible in our conversations with the Lesley administration. We have scheduled our first contract planning sessions for next Thursday, May 28, at which we will start to define both our immediate and long-range goals (details below).
INAUGURAL UNION CONTRACT PLANNING SESSIONS
Thursday, May 28
U-Hall, Room 2078
If you cannot attend this session, but still want to be involved, please contact Zev Nicholson.
Whether you voted yes, no, or abstained in our union election, we invite everyone now to work together to set goals, determine values and win measurable gains. Our aim is to ensure every core faculty member has the opportunity to be heard, to be recognized, and to strengthen our union. We have a real opportunity ahead, and it is incumbent on each and every one of us to make our voices heard.
The purpose of the election was to make a decision – and we have decided. Now, we begin working with the Lesley administration to put our ideas and goals into practice at a University we respect, doing the teaching we love. Working together with our adjunct colleagues and those throughout our union, we look forward to a bright and secure future at Lesley.
